The Purpose Of Gutters and Downspouts
A gutter system is primarily intended to collect rainwater from the roofs to facilitate an appropriate dispersal of water away from the house. A home’s gutter system is not usually given much thought by homeowners. However, it is a critical part of maintaining your home’s value and integrity. Effective rain management depends on well-functioning gutters and downspouts.
When it rains, a properly installed gutter system ensures that rainwater won’t collect on the roof or run down alongside your home’s walls. When rainwater is not controlled, it can get in between the wood, vinyl siding, or other materials that cover your home and guard it against the elements. In addition, water can get behind window frames and other openings to cause damage that is expensive to repair. Contact Souders Construction & Roofing before any damage can be done!
Seamless K-Style Rain Gutters
The most common gutter style in the U.S. is the seamless K-style gutters. It is less likely to leak, holds more water, has an attractive appearance, and is highly customizable. The design further helps in ensuring that water is carried away from your home, preventing excessive water infiltration. These gutters are available in a variety of materials such as copper, aluminum, and galvanized steel. Seamless K-style gutters are said to blend better with modern architecture, adding beauty and value to your property exterior.
It has numerous advantages such as it can hold more water than a rounded or half-rounded gutter, irrespective of the diameter. Due to its unique shape, the seamless K-style gutters are stronger which means they will be less likely to bend if a high force is applied. Our seamless gutter systems are manufactured on-site using a machine to ensure a custom fit and reduce material waste. Our gutters protect your home’s foundation and landscape for years.
Half-Round Rain Gutters
The half-round design has been a standard for centuries, and the rounded style looks great on traditional homes like craftsman and Victorian-style architecture. Half-round gutters are less prone to corrosion and have a smoother shape. Available in painted aluminum, painted steel, and copper, the half-round gutters highlight the period’s architecture. It is available from Souders Construction & Roofing in multiple colors and is easy to clean due to its low-maintenance shape.
Half-round gutters belong to a modern system that has a high rainfall-carrying capacity. Furthermore, these types of rain gutters have an improved curved base which results in less buildup of water, and dirt and is easy to clean. This type is all about choices and style, however, the installation method is similar to that of seamless K-style gutters. As per your requirement, you can choose to select from a variety of hanger options such as elbows, hand-cut miters, round downspouts, and hidden hangers.
Copper Rain Gutters
Homeowners who elect to have copper gutters and downspouts installed rarely regret this decision. Even though copper gutters and downspouts are much more expensive than seamless aluminum gutters or galvanized steel gutters, copper has some unique qualities that make it exceptional. Much like seamless aluminum gutters, copper gutters are designed with a seamless appearance and have soldered joints to help prevent leaks.
The benefits of copper gutters include no painting, rust, or corrosion. Instead, they weather naturally to a tawny brown patina. With other gutters, joints (at inside & outside corners) are sealed with special sealants that sometimes need to be renewed to prevent leaks. However, the joints in copper gutters are soldered together just like copper plumbing connections so you never need to worry about leaks. Instead of blending into the roof structure like seamless aluminum gutters, copper gutters, and downspouts stand out and make a statement about craftsmanship and quality.
Copper gutters can increase the value and appearance of your home. While copper gutters are, more expensive and more difficult to work with they have a lasting effect on your home. Few gutter options can compare with a professional copper gutter installation. Copper guttering has long been considered the ultimate in guttering and for good reason. It is not uncommon for copper gutters to have a lifespan of 60 to 90 years. If you are looking to spruce up the look of your home and have a conversation piece among your neighbors try, installing copper gutters.
Galvalume Rain Gutters
We install both galvalume K-style gutters and half-round reverse bead gutters. Galvalume gutters generally last longer than galvanized steel gutters. Galvanized steel is dipped in zinc, but over time the zinc coating deteriorates. Galvalume, on the other hand, is four times more resistant than galvanized steel and maintains its shiny appearance, much like stainless steel. Galvalume is steel coated by 45% zinc and 55% aluminum. They are durable and won’t sag, even over time, hold up to high temperatures, heavy rain, and severe storms. Their coating makes them resistant to corrosion. Further, Galvalume won’t dent like aluminum and can be coated in paint or metallic finishes.
While Galvalume will outlast galvanized steel, it’s not suited to coastal areas as saltwater will degrade the coating. Also, Galvalume may not react well with other things including concrete, treated wood, copper, lead, bricks, or iron.
